Anne Heywood
"... to entice the viewer into my art,
beyond
what is seen, to what is
felt."

Anne Heywood is an expressive realist artist who creates a mood, as well as
likeness, in her works. Her paintings and drawings are combinations of both
beauty and expression, a reflection of her life spent in New England and Italy.
Heywood applies "dry" medium-- soft pastels or oil pastels -- with her
hands on textured surfaces to achieve the strong compositions and subtle color transitions for which she is known. Her drawings, mainly
composed in charcoal or pen & ink, are visually exact and emotionally
stimulating.
Heywood is the recipient of the International Association of Pastel Society’s
prestigious Master Circle Award, the Pastel Society of America’s 1995 Holbein
Award, and the Salmagundi Club’s 1999 George Inness, Jr. Memorial Award, among
many other honors. She is the author and illustrator of Pastels Made Easy, (Watson-Guptill
Publications, NYC, 2003). Her paintings, drawings, and writings have been published in
international books and magazines such as "Australian Artist", The
Best of Sketching and Drawing, The Best of Pastel I, "The Artists
Magazine", and "American Artist Magazine", and have been
exhibited throughout the United States. In addition, Heywood publishes her own newsletter, "Heywood Art News".
An artist member of
the Copley Society and the National Association of Women Artists, Heywood is a
signature member of the Pastel Society of America, the Associated Pastellists on the Web, the Pastel Painters
Society of Cape Cod, and the Connecticut Pastel Society. Her educational background includes a B.A.
summa cum laude in Art. She is listed in Who’s Who in
the World, Who’s Who in America, Who's Who in the East, and Who’s Who
in American Women.
Heywood offers art instruction, lectures, and demonstrations. She accepts commissions for custom
paintings, including landscapes and pet portraits. Her works can be found in
both national and international corporate and private collections. Heywood lives and paints in East
Bridgewater, Massachusetts, and Waldoboro, Maine.
